Embrace the Possibility

Introducing Brandon, Florida

In 1800s America, the ideal of possibility expressed itself as ‘manifest destiny,’ and it swept the nation with a fervor for plumbing the depths of what new lands could offer. One such man was John Brandon, an enterprising family-minded farmer who travelled seven hundred miles southward through the wilderness over two years with his wife and seven sons and settled what is now the unincorporated community of Brandon, which he founded and established and August 1858 and later greatly expanded in 1874.

Today, Brandon has a historically conscious charisma, as seen in such sites as the Westfield Brandon Mall or the Paul Sanders Park, and its status as a fairly large and well-populated unincorporated community outflows from its founder’s own individual resourcefulness.

Introducing the Brandon Ballet

Inexorably linked with Brandon’s sense of storied innovation is the Brandon Ballet, a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that has provided Brandon and its surrounding communities with the highest caliber of classical ballet and arts education for 29 years. Established both in longevity and in the art form it heralds, the Brandon Ballet has faithfully brought John Brandon’s visionary spirit of upstart familial excellence to the very land that he walked, and will continue to instill such invaluable life skills as discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and creative expression onto a post-COVID world where children and teenagers in particular have suffered immensely from extended isolation and an excessive inundation of screen time.

Partner with Us in the Possibility

The Proposal

In response to this troubling post-COVID reality, a unique creative opportunity has arisen for the Brandon Ballet to collaborate with established composer Damien Simon to craft a brand new classical family-friendly story ballet, featuring dancers of all ages.

For this project to reach its fullest fruition, a tremendous amount of time and money is required. Funds must be allocated to wards:

  • Licensing fees for the composer
  • Paying professional dancers and artistic/executive staff
  • Curating high end costumery and building striking sets and backdrops
  • Securing venues throughout Brandon and beyond from intimate outdoor spaces and school auditoriums to grand performance Hall
  • Marketing to the community at large
  • Travel expenses for all affiliated parties

Your sponsorship of any amount towards this extraordinary project will transform it from possibility to actuality, and will equip Brandon ballet and Mr. Simon with a tangible means of reinvigorating a community, a generation, even the whole world at large with newfound vitality. Thank you for your time and consideration. All donations to Brandon ballet or tax deductible and graciously appreciated.
